This course is about grounding ourselves as supervisors so that we can not only help therapists with cases and learn EFT, but also help them heal and grow into a more full presence.

We will start with the big picture of our EFT culture and training and deconstructing the roots of white supremacy culture that have found their way into EFT.

As part of this discussion we will be joined by Unique Page and Karen Hixson who are consultants who have been supporting the Portland EFT community in our anti-racism journey. Unique and Karen will add a non-EFT perspective and will support the conversation and help us have constructive dialogue about white supremacy culture. We will include a racial caucus as part of this session. This course is appropriate for supervisors who want to feel more skilled with the tango and equity supervision as well as supervisors-in-training.

Session 1: EFT Supervision, white supremacy culture and the EFT tango: lay the foundation. In this session we will explore the foundations of EFT supervision that is through an equity lens. We will unpack aspects of our EFT culture that support and challenge the learning and growth of our supervisees and examine power in the supervisory relationship and in our community.

Session 2: Move 1 in Supervision: How do we decide where to work? In this session we will practice being strategic about how and where we work with our supervisees. Move 1 is about making things explicit and tuning in. How does this shape supervision? This will include review of ACES model of supervision and how to integrate this into the EFT Tango of supervision.

Session 3: Move 1-3 in Supervision: How do we decide and what to do? In this session we will build on what we have learned so far and practice finding a working edge and strategizing about how to help people grow and learn.

Session 4: Self-of-Therapist Supervision. In this session we will look at how the HEARTS model, the EFT Tango and parts work can help us free up our supervisees and help them learn to use their attachment systems in their work.

Session 5: Practice sessions and integration. We will work with client videos and scenarios and work in groups to practice tangoing our way through supervision.
