Individual & Couples Therapy

Individual & Couples Therapy

I help people deepen their relationship with themselves and with the people who matter most to them. I believe that relationships are the foundation of health and happiness. Relationships can be painful and challenging when we get disconnected and we can’t find our way back.  When I work with individuals, I work with you to identify how you want things to be different and then help you discover what is in your way. I create safety that allows you to grow and be more authentic in your life.

With couples, I don’t take sides or try to solve the argument you have likely had many times before. I help you to get underneath your dynamic and express your heartfelt feelings.  Couple therapy is hard work, but when both people are engaged and willing, it can be powerful and beautiful. With couples I use the powerful model of Emotionally Focused Therapy to help them get unstuck and feel closer.  I believe that love is love, and I strive to create a safe space for your relationship no matter your background, sexual orientation, gender identity or marital status.

What is EFT? Emotionally Focused Therapy for couples is a way of working with the distress that we all can feel in our relationships. EFT is about looking at the dynamics and patterns we get pulled in to in our most important relationships and helping us change those patterns at the deepest levels. We help people connect with themselves and their partners in deep and satisfying ways. EFT has been well researched as a treatment modality and has been demonstrated to reduce couples’ distress in 70%-90% of cases. For more info on research click here.

I continue to study and grow in my work, which makes it fun and exciting.  I have advanced training in EFT and gestalt therapy, which provides a foundation for my work. I work with attachment, relationship, process and the present moment. I am also a student of yoga therapy, which has increasingly become a part of how I help people heal and grow.

Insurance and Billing

I am out of network for most insurance companies. When out of network, payment is due at the time of service.  If requested, I can submit a bill to your insurance company for your therapy as long as there is a documentable diagnosis that your insurance will cover. When I work with couples, insurance can only be used if there is a diagnosis that one person has that relates to the relationship.  Please call your insurance provider ahead of time and find out what kind of reimbursement you can expect. When working with couples, I use the billing code 90847 for a 50 min session. Longer sessions can be prorated; however, insurance usually does not cover longer sessions.
