About

Sharon Chatkupt Lee, PsyD

****Please note that I am currently on sabbatical and not accepting clients or supervisees.***

Sharon Chatkupt Lee, PsyD, is a psychologist in private practice in Portland, Oregon since 2003. Sharon fell in love with EFT and began studying seriously to be an EFT therapist in 2006 alongside advanced gestalt training. Once certified in EFT, Sharon became a founding member for the Oregon Community for Emotionally Focused Therapists. Sharon became a Certified Supervisor and eventually an ICEEFT Certified Trainer by 2018. But in 2022, it became clear that she could not do the level of equity work she wanted to do as an ICEEFT trainer. Sharon is now developing supervision and training which explores culture, power, and context along side of attachment, emotion and process.

Helping therapists heal and grow as well as Sharon’s personal healing, has always been an anchor point for Sharon and has led her professional exploration. She has special interests in supervision and self-of-therapist challenges in EFT, as well as trauma. Sharon is currently learning about psychedelic psychotherapy. She has studied yoga therapy, somatic therapy, and ITR, which further developed her ability to work with trauma and the body. Sharon lives with her husband in their recently emptied nest with their labradoodle named Huckleberry Finn. Pre-pandemic, Huck was Sharon’s coworker, but now he joins her for online sessions when he feels so inspired. Out of the office you will find her with family, walking in the woods, camping, doing yoga, kayaking, throwing pottery on a wheel, painting, knitting, or working on social justice issues.

Location of self statement: I am a white cis-gender woman who grew up mostly in the Kansas City, Missouri where I benefited upper middle class privileges. Early on, I decided education would be my way through and I was especially influenced by my grandparents in this regard. Having my education paid for has been one of my key unearned privileges. Growing up, I attended several Christian churches. Some of those experiences were inspiring and some were traumatizing. Currently, I am a student of Buddhism, practice meditation, daily yoga practice. My spiritual life is grounded in nature, yoga practice and philosophy. My life partner is Asian American and our two teenage/young adult kids are biracial. We have found a recent deepening of our conversations about race, gender and culture together and with our kids. As a white woman, I feel it is my life’s work to continue to look at my own internalized white supremacy and to be an agent of change in the world. I offer this information as a place to start a conversation with you about our identities and intersectionalities. My intention is to be as open as I can be, especially when my blindspots have impacted others. Whatever your background, I will work to hear you and my impact on you.

Huckleberry Finn

Huck is my coworker and companion. He is an Australian Labradoodle who is hypoallergenic and non-shedding. He has been seeing clients since he was 5 months old. He generally greets clients and settles them in before retiring for a deep nap during sessions. If you have any concern about Huck being present at your session or any questions about him, please let me know. Your comfort and safety are my priority.
